Her programming highlights each student's natural artistic ability. Students listen to and write tales; they become heroes and tricksters; they gain confidence in front of a group as they play theater games and act. Mel was selected to receive the Illinois Theatre Association's Award for Excellence in Creative Drama.	"Mel's enthusiasm and interactive approach drew in all levels of readers and writers.
